The AARE Conference Standing Committee invites abstracts and full papers for the AARE 2013 Conference to be held in Adelaide, Australia on 1-5 December 2013.

Please read all instructions prior to submitting your abstract or paper.

SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS / KEY WORDS

All abstracts for individual presentations, symposia and posters should indicate the Special Interest Group that most closely relates to the topic of their presentation. Where there is no easy match please use the option of ‘keywords’ to provide three words or phrases that best indicate your topic. Abstracts will be assigned to the relevant SIG convenors for reviewing and programming. SIG nominations will also be used to assign papers to reviewers.

Individual Presentations

All individual presentations proposed outside of symposia will be programmed with like presentations according to theme. Each presenter will be provided with a 30-minute time slot in either one hour, 90 minute, or 2 hour session. Presenters are encouraged to allow time for rigorous discussion and cross-fertilisation as they prepare their presentations. The SIG coordinators or program chair will appoint a chair for these sessions from the presenters, prior to the conference, and this person will be responsible for coordinating the presenters and leading discussion as well as ensuring that the session keeps to time.

Individual Papers for Full Paper Review

The option of full paper refereeing is available to all presenters (Symposium and Panel participants as well as Individual Paper presenters) after abstracts have been submitted for an individual presentation or symposium. Papers should be 4000-6000 words and should be written in scholarly, academic format as appropriate to the content of the paper. Papers have no identification of authors throughout the rest of the paper. The paper title should be included in a header on each page. Pages should be numbered. Papers should include an abridged abstract of approximately 300 words under the title and before the text of the paper. APA 5th/6th style for referencing should be used.

Paper submissions will be requested to re upload their paper according to publishing formats once accepted.

Poster Presentations

Poster size is A0 (height: 120 cm, width 90 cm). Poster format is portrait/vertical position. Poster presenters will have the opportunity to talk to their poster during the times allocated to Poster Presentations. All posters shall be put up in the morning before the Poster Presentation Sessions on the program. Posters will be judged on Tuesday and Wednesday and awards presented at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday. Poster presenters may be eligible to apply for the ACDE-AARE Postgraduate / ECR Researcher Poster Award .

Symposium Presentations

Symposia 1.5 hours (for 3-4 papers) or 2 hours (for 4-5 papers). Symposium/panel proposals are encouraged to nominate a discussant (include this in the overview section of the submission) and must nominate a chairperson. Prior acceptance of all parties must be arranged by the symposium/panel organiser. It is the responsibility of the symposium/panel organiser, in consultation with the other presenters, to organise the session to allow time for robust discussion and debate.

FULL PAPER FOR REFEREEINGarrow-up-btn

There will be an administration cost of $40 for each paper to be refereed. Please enter your payment details by clicking on this link here.

Papers will NOT be refereed until payment has been received by the 3 June 2013.

Paper presenters may be eligible to apply for the AARE ECR Award, Postgraduate Student Research Awards, Indigenous Postgraduate Student Research Awards, or the Betty Watts Indigenous Researcher Award. Note that these Awards are all open to self-nomination. Please see AARE Awards and Honours for details

Eligible applicants who wish to be considered for the Awards must indicate this when submitting their Paper. However for all Awards (other than Post Awards) applicants must apply as instructed on the AARE Awards and Honours website

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTSarrow-up-btn

  • Authors may offer no more than two submissions on which they appear as lead author.
  • Presenters are encouraged to collaborate in a symposia or panel sessions with three or more papers in a one and half/two hour slot. Symposium/panel proposals must demonstrate how the papers contribute to a coherent theme and allow time for questions and debate. The committee encourages researchers to work collaboratively across disciplines, phase of career and institutions when proposing panels and symposia.
  • The acceptance of an abstract does not imply provision of travel, accommodation or registration for the conference, nor any other costs associated with preparation or presentation of the abstract, or any costs associated with attendance at the conference.
  • You give us permission to publish your abstract submission, full paper on CD Rom and online if it is accepted for presentation.
  • You give us permission to film or photograph your presentation at the Conference on the AARE website, CD-rom, in hardcopy and online.

Please read the following instructions on how to use the Oxford Abstracts Submission System to submit, edit or withdraw an abstract for the AARE 2013 Conference.

Abstracts and Full Papers submitted in hard copy will not be accepted. Only abstracts and papers submitted via the online Oxford Abstracts Submissions System will be accepted and reviewed.

AUTHOR NOTIFICATIONarrow-up-btn

  • Authors will receive notification of acceptance by 1 August 2013. This decision is final.
  • Upon receiving notification of acceptance, authors are required to notify the Conference Office of their intent to participate/present at the conference. Presentations of authors who fail to notify the Conference Office and/ or who do not pay and register to attend by 16 September 2013 may be withdrawn from the program at the discretion of the committee.

AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENTarrow-up-btn

Each lecture room will be equipped for the presentation of Power Point slides and include a data projector, computer (with external speakers), lectern and microphone. Multimedia clips should be embedded in your slides. Other audiovisual aids, such as Overhead Projectors, are not available. More information on audio visual equipment will become available closer to the Conference.

Presenters should bring their Power Point slides and associated media files to the Conference on a memory stick. If you have a complex presentation, which includes multiple media files, we suggest you bring your own laptop as a backup in case of difficulties loading your presentation.
